Poster: Boris de KlerkNL Black Box: First Movement is een interdisciplinaire performance waarin de theatertechniek zelf de hoofdrol speelt. In deze dans van door-draaiende volgspots, openslaande gordijnen en omvallende standaarden wordt er gecomponeerd met alles wat al in de zaal ligt, maar normaal aan de aandacht wordt onttrokken. Het zoemen van de lampen die aangaan, de brommende motortjes die het grid laten zakken, de airco, de piepende stoelen en de feedback van oversturende microfoons. Een eerste stap in het onderzoek van Finn Borath en Boris de Klerk naar hoe de black box, die ontworpen is om ruimte aan de toneelspelers en het decor te geven, zelf als de hoofdrolspeler te zien.
EN Black Box: First Movement is an interdisciplinary performance in which stage-tech itself is the main character. In this choreography of rotating stage lights, wavering curtains and tumbling microphone stands, a composition is made with everything that is normally present in the theatre, but deprived of attention. The buzzing of the lights being switched on, the whirring machinery of the lowering light grid, air conditioning, squeaky chairs and the feedback of distorting microphones. A first step in Finn Borath and Boris de Klerk’s research on how the black box, designed to give space to the performers and the set, can be seen as the show itself.
